Y’all I love my Dad. If there’s anyone in the world who deserves to be showered with gifts and thank you’s, it’s him. My dad is super dad and I think Father’s Day is one of the best holiday’s of the year. It’s a day completely devoted to showering him with as much love as possible! (Mom, if you’re reading this, you’re super mom and you’re much cuter than dad)
Now, here’s the catch with father’s day; dads are hard to shop for. I don’t know about your dad but mine likes to pretend that he’s low maintenance and doesn’t need anything. I know he’s full of it, but I digress. To avoid feeling lost this weekend for ideas for what to buy and what to do, I’ve put together the Ultimate Father’s Day Guide (does that sound fancy enough? Ok, good.)
I hope that these ideas make the process smooth and even a little enjoyable. Loving our dad’s is easy, but entertaining and surprising them can be hard. I hope that y’all take these tips and show your dad’s just how much they mean to you!
One // Making Memories
Journals can be such precious gifts to give parents. I suggest buying a notebook and writing your dad a letter about what his love, guidance, and support has meant to you. You can even write some prompts on different pages. Depending on your relationship you can prompt him to write about his childhood, your childhood, or even have him write letters to your kids. This is a very personal, thoughtful gift that can be very affordable!
Two // Learning Together
Kindles come in all shapes, sizes, and price ranges. If you’re looking for a gift that your dad will use, enjoy, and maintains some personality then this is the way to go. You can even add your dad’s favorites or a book you want to read together to get him started. I think it would be extra special to take him somewhere he loves and sit and read together!
Two // Special Hobbies
If your dad loves to cook like mine then he would love something this beautiful to have in the kitchen. This board maintains a masculine style and serves a function that he will definitely utilize. If you’re looking for something more, I would suggest picking out the ingredients to one of his favorite meals, packaging them together with the board, and giving him the gift of time together in the kitchen.
Four // Gift of TIme
For so long our fathers have spoiled us and as we get older, the opportunity to spoil them becomes more and more available. This father’s day you can do something extra special by gifting him a specially picked out piece that he will use every day and pair it with an activity that he will love. I would pair this gorgeous watch with a gift certificate for a day skeet shooting. You could do everything from playing golf to taking a beach day together, anything works as long as you’re together. You can make it personal while also giving him something he can use and treasure!
Five // Looking Good
Men always need more ties, just like we always need more shoes. It’s just a dad thing. The shoes we will address on another day. Giving your dad a tie is a classic gift that never gets old but there are definitely ways to spice it up! I would suggest finding someone to do family portraits and centering the theme around his tie. While dads may not ask for pictures as much as moms, they still treasure the ones they have and would love to have those memories together. You can even have him sport the tie while y’all take the pictures!
Father’s Day, maybe even more so than Mother’s Day, is a hard balance between finding useful gifts and creating sentimental memories. Each can be more or less appropriate for the relationship that you and your dad have, and that’s perfectly okay! My dad is my best friend and I can’t wait to spend the day together celebrating just how wonderful a dad he really is.
I hope that y’all get to celebrate your dads this weekend in style! Let me know your plans and share your great gift ideas!
